Benue Assembly Grants Alia’s Request for More 10 Special Advisers

Date:

The Benue State House of Assembly has approved Governor Hyacinth Alia’s request for 10 more Special Advisers. The approval was granted during the plenary session on Thursday in Makurdi.

Governor Alia requested the increase after confirming recent new appointments to important positions and statutory boards. He stated that increasing the number of advisers was necessary to help build capacity for governance in the state, and that his administration’s ability to deliver effectively on his development agenda is critical.

Lawmakers expressed support for the proposal, believing the wider advisory input would provide the governor with much more expertise to help steer policy and monitor vital projects in the State. They went on to say that having a larger advisory team would help with coordination and implementation, resulting in better outcomes for government initiatives.

Although approval has been reached, the governor has not yet revealed the identities of the new additions.

This approval follows a series of appointments made recently by the administration, indicating a broader effort to expand operations across ministries and agencies. However, some critics have expressed concerns about the potential cost implications and whether the expanded team will lead to better governance outcomes at all.
