Samsung has officially released One UI 8 which is the latest version of One UI, built on Android 16. The software update emphasizes artificial intelligence, personalization, accessibility, and unifying performance across Galaxy devices.
The stable version will first land on the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra on September 18, 2025. The Galaxy S25 FE already has One UI 8 built in. Other devices including the S24 series, Z Fold6, Z Flip6, S23 series, A-series, and Tab S10 series will receive the update in the weeks and months to come.
Samsung began beta testing in May for the S25 series and then expanded the beta program to more models. The company claims that the update is “the most advanced experience available to users’ ever delivered from Samsung,” with the AI features taking center stage.
Some of the significant features of One UI 8 include:
- Gemini Live: real-time voice interactions powered by Google’s AI assistant.
- Now Bar: a smarter, context-aware taskbar for faster multitasking.
- Circle to Search: an enhanced search tool that lets users circle items on the screen to get instant results.
- Audio Eraser: removes unwanted background sounds from videos and voice notes.
- Vivaldi-inspired ringtones: new immersive tones with Dolby Atmos support.
- Good Lock upgrades: deeper customization with layout tools, widget tweaks, and smoother animations.
- Accessibility improvements: enhanced hearing support with clearer call audio, co-designed with users who have hearing challenges.
- Bluetooth Auracast: allows audio sharing across multiple devices, such as Galaxy Buds and hearing aids, using QR code scanning.
In addition, the update is optimized for foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 where multitasking and continuity across screens is critical. Samsung provides emphasis on selected “Inspired by Nature” design elements to provide a more calm experience that is more intuitive.
On top of providing AI-powered tools, One UI 8 provides a stronger emphasis on inclusivity. From hearing accessibility to Auracast audio sharing, the added AI tools should mean Galaxy devices will allow more people to make use of them with less complexity.
Samsung’s rollout plan, will target its flagship models first and older Galaxy devices. Many mid-range and tablet models should receive a stable build of One UI 8 by October and November.
Analysts believe Samsung is leveraging One UI 8 to reinforce its commitment to pushing Android software innovation, by more closely integrating Google’s Gemini AI than has been achieved previously. Early feedback from testers reflects this improvement with user interface features including smoother navigation, faster app responsiveness, and smarter context-aware tools.
Through its efforts to consumerize the capabilities of AI and create a wider variety of inclusive features targeted to different demographics, the takeaway from One UI 8 is simply that it’s more than just another software update or version change.
Instead, it’s a significant step in providing more personalized, AI-driven, and accessible smartphone capabilities for more people than ever before.
