The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced a shift in the final evaluation date for underage candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. This is coming after a good number of universities failed to meet the deadline of uploading their Post-UTME screening scores.
According to the board, 23 out of the 71 universities designated by these candidates could not upload their screening within the deadline of September 15 even after the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination results were uploaded by NECO on September 17.
Some of these universities included the University of Lagos, Nile University, University of Abuja, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and University of Uyo. The results affected 135 underage candidates.
JAMB directed its correspondence to the universities, notifying them to upload their incomplete results without further excuses. It also reminded universities of their responsibilities under the Central Admissions Processing System, which oversees all admissions procedures.
Consequently, JAMB granted public universities until 30th September to upload the candidates on their recommended list, while private universities have until 31st October 2025. However, the board also reiterated that the final date is final.
The public universities have to upload their candidates before 30th October, while the private universities must upload by 31st November 2025, in accordance with the agreements made during the 2025 Policy Meeting for Admissions.
JAMB also stated that the extension is intended to ensure fairness and was done on purpose, so that no eligible candidate will be disenfranchised due to institutional failures. It also emphasized the importance of compliance in valuing the admission process and contributing to transparency in the 2025/2026 admission process.
For many candidates and their parents, this would provide temporary relief while they wait for the universities to respond promptly.
